‘Hottie season’ is coming, and as you know, when the winter cold approaches, Brisbanites go into overdrive preparing for chillier weather. Winter is the busiest time of the year for hot water system installation and replacement. You might think it's the perfect time to get the work done and save money, but the reality is that the best way to save the most money is to book your new hot water system installation now, before the peak time hits.

Why?

  • There are more incentives from manufacturers outside of peak times!
  • Brisbane plumbers are busiest with hot water installations in the winter months and if you need a flexible plumber with an open schedule, getting yourself sorted before winter rolls around is a must.
  • With less competition for hot water systems, you are more likely to have your pick of stock. There's no waiting around for your system to be ordered, and no need to compromise on your needs when making such a large investment.
  • Waiting until the temperature drops could leave you without hot water for a period during chilly weather, and that’s the last thing you want!

Rebates and Incentives

Not only are there federal rebates available, but you may be able to take advantage of state incentives, too. Find out if there are rebates or assistance from your local government.

Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are available from the Australian Government. This provides a discount or cash toward the system's purchase price to encourage homeowners to choose solar and heat pump hot water systems. With the benefit of that discount, you want to ensure you get the right system for your home and needs, so having it installed before winter arrives is the best way to ensure you don't miss out.

Homeowners may be eligible for a grant or loan to make an energy-efficient home upgrade. Businesses could qualify for a grant of up to $50,000 to improve their energy efficiency, and applications are being accepted until the end of June 2025.

Don't forget to enquire about incentives directly from the manufacturer – while this shouldn't be the sole reason you choose a specific brand or model, it's worth having all the information before you make the final decision. A qualified plumber can advise you about the ideal unit to service your home efficiently.
